Restoration era 1097
Re: Restoration era 1097
again a small update.
I bought a second engine, with every thing on it.
So i now have from every part from the engine a spare.
And i started to rebuild the hiff44.
One with a rebuild kit(this one will be build into the car)
And one with the best of both parts.
I am still wayting for parts,And i think i will rebuild the turbo's.
The same as i did the hiff44

Re: Restoration era 1097
Just a word of warning. I rebuilt my carb with a genuine SU rebuild kit and after the rebuild had problems with the float valve sticking when the engine was hot. The float valve in the kit had a rubber tip whereas the old valve was just brass. I refitted the old valve and have never had the problem since.

Thanks for the good advise.
I will have a look this weekend and change it.
This will save a lot of time in the and investigation work.

A small update.
Finaly the body came back from blasting.
It will be a very big job to get it restored.
There are a lot off holes on the wrong places.
I will post a view picktures soon.
Also all the parts that need to be coated are back.
And some where not to my satisfaction so they need to be redone.
I also have A questions.
Does anybody know what the breakets of the spot lights on the front look like(maybe sent me a pictures of them)

As the Auxiliary coolant and oil radiators where heavenly corroded.
The one for the coolant also had leaks.
I had to find a way to restore them.
So i re-manufactured them.
Also the main radiator needed some attention.
I desided to get a aluminum one and mofify it.
And i'am thingking about, spraying it black.
I also put the complere engine togheter.

Re: Restoration era 1097
I also startet on the front sub-frame.
First i started with a mini city front subframe as i thought the one of the era was to rusted.
But i had it sand blasted and the damage to the frame was not that big,so i used the original front subframe.
I did need to find need metro calipers and rebuild them completly.
Also the brack servo is rebuild.

Excellent pics.
Your work so far looks fantastic.
I'd paint the rad black if it was me.
I don't know how effective it is but i have been told that it helps with heat dissipation.
I look forward to seeing your work on the body.
