Brake bias valve

Post by prop » Wed Jan 11, 2012 4:24 pm

Hi.
I have found a similar bias valve to the one fitted to our cars.
The one fitted to our cars has stamped onto the casting on one of the flats 6025.
The one I have new is stamped 60/22.
I presume the numbers signify the the bias or pressure.
Has anyone got any information or theories?

I suspect that if fitted, it shouldn't make much difference, 22 opposed to 25.
Although it is about 12% difference so may be it will.
The only reason for trying to find a replacement is because the one on the car has been dry and open to the atmosphere for the last 20 years and I would presume the internals are rusty or seized.

Again any theories?

hello,
As shown in the picture the bias on my car did not look that great eather.
But when i opened it for inspection the inside still was shinny, almost like new.
I can not find a replacement so i cleaned it en painted it,for re-use.
Does somebody know where to find this replacement?

I took the old unit apart and it is corroded at the piston end. So I opened the new unit and as you can see from the photos the springs are different. The large spring is a little shorter in the old unit and the small spring completely different.
I have decided to use the new cylinder, the new piston and seal, the two old springs and the old inlet end. I decided to use the old inlet end because the male thread on the new one is larger.
I have also swapped the blue band over. It is now identical to the old one apart from thr numbers stamped on it.
It should end up giving the same bias as the original unit because the springs are the original ones.
Basically I have used the new one as a service kit
You can see the differences in the pictures.
