Restoration era 1097
Restoration era 1097
After a few weeks i completly dismantelled the era 1097 to a bare shell.
This will be fixed up ,while i sort out the rear and front subframe.
The rear subframe needs to be replaced.
All bearings and seals will be new.
The only problem i have for the moment are the front calipers.
Al beleed nippels are broken off.
So i need to look for good replacements.
Soon i will post some pictures of the subframe's

Re: Restoration era 1097
Hi, I thought I had a job on my hand but I think you have more of one.
Is there any chance of a photo of the petrol tank fuel return. I would like to know exactly where it enters the tank. Also the dimensions and photo of the body kit mounting brackets.
Good Look
Martin

Re: Restoration era 1097
Hi Martin,
I have some drgs i made of the front and side kit mounting brackets.
I managed to get these 2 from my rover dealer ages ago and i had some stainless ones made for mine (didn't fit all of them), Unfortunately the rear ones were not available at the time.
I'll dig them out and pop them in the post complete with the rear cross member drgs.
Send me a PM with your postal address as i only have your email.

Re: Restoration era 1097
a small update on the 1097.
It is now stripped and ready for sand blasting.
The engine needs some TLC.

Re: Restoration era 1097
Then i started getting all the aluminum parts of the engine cleaned and glass blasted.
After that i got all bolts and nuts and other parts cleaned and got them a new zink plated coating.
Then i started rebuilding the gearbox and changed everything needed.

Re: Restoration era 1097
Got me some straight cut primairy gears(with the central bearing)and the x-pinn diverential was already in the gearbox.
Then i took the engine block appart vleaned and painted it,changed all bearings but also the oil pump wather pump and got me a duplex cam chain(the cam stays standard).
And also a new modified cilinder head.
For now I'am waiting for some parts to finish the engine and for the paintshop.
