R1028 Fuel pump

Post by prop » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:18 pm

Hi Everyone

Has anybody got a photo of the position of the fuel pump on the sub frame, and the connections?
Although the original pipes are in place they have been damaged about 8" from the sub frame and twisted away. I will have to cut them at that point and replace them.
I presume they should run up behind the sub frame and one connects to the pump via a short hose the other to the return to the tank. I would like to know the correct route.
Has anybody got a photo of the petrol tank return pipe position on the tank? I was also wondering, where the outlet in the tank discharged. Can you here a trickle at any time? How fast does the return run?
The drawing from Pete K was great but limited in the information needed to make the modifications.

A couple of photos of work done on back plates and wheel cylinders so far.
Cheers Martin

Hi Again.
Photo of our fuel pump- excuse the Waxoil!- attached. Two part Mounting bracket drawing also attached. The latter I drew when ours was off the car, but didn't measure the diameter of the holding band. The support is mounted on 2 'Cotton reel type mountings, as usd on gearbox etc. I will search for part number if you can't find them as I know there is a spare set in the garage but Minispares should list them.
Regards
Pete K.

Hi Martin and all.
The cotton reel mountings, for holding the pump support bar to the angle bracket are available from lots of places.
Part number 22G 2205. Enter this in Google and they are everywhere!
Typical price about £3.00

I have just noticed that my measurements dont 'tie up' exactly, with overall lengths of vertical and horizontal piece of same angle bracket shown differing! Obviously this length is not critical if you are remanufacturing. Also from my drawing of the bracket, the only really critical hole positions are those that are in alignment with the mounting holes predrilled in the subframe. If that has been replaced at any time they could be anywhere.
Regards
Pete K
