bonnet badge

Post by deanjr7 » Sun Feb 15, 2009 10:09 am

hi all,
I've been toying with these badges for a bit now and think now they are a good substitute until you can find originals .iam going to list what i have made so far on ebay to try and cover some of my costs and losses, and to see what interest is generated whether or not they are viable enough to still make . see what you think

regards dean

I took my original badge(s) into a jeweler/ engraver (Nr Penrith) and he made them up in solid silver...all stamped up.

the price was......er.....not cheap

hi rob
how long have you owned your car plus do you have any history or letters from ERA as they must have been the first owners

Hi dean

I have a lever arch full of stuff on my car.... letters, info and receipts that add up to a small mortgage.

One of the interesting points to note is that mine had a 5 speed box fitted (testing).....it didn't last long!!! I looked into a 5 speeder - newer stronger, but when I spoke to KAD they said they will not guarantee it on a turbo and they said that theirs had not been tested with torque above 130lbs.....so mine was a little too 'feisty' to go down this path.

As far as i am aware (from information given to me) mine is the only one with 'fixed' rear windows...I will stand corrected if anyone knows otherwise?

I have owned the car about 6 years now.

Hi Rob
Mine too has fixed rear quarter windows, F93 YOE. Also was fitted with a Jackknight 5 speed box and tested on the Italian Job run. Both engine and box were removed before being sold by E.R.A

hi nigel
its nice that number 4 is still there seen this a few times in the early 90s a chap named gerry from bristol mini owners had it then. just a quick note how many i dont know but the first few cars were tested with 5 speed jacknight gear box and the front suspension were 4" lower than production models number 4 already had several body kits replaced through damage thats why they were hired by 4"
how long and what have you done with it since then regards dean

Hi Dean
Bought the car from Gerry 18.11.03 drove it home, put it in the garage and that is where it stayed for a few years. At the time i also went to Brighton and test drove J7 ERA but went for Y93 YOE. Have now got the car in storage.
