Restoration era 1097
Re: Restoration era 1097
That is excellent news. I bet the next week of waiting is going to be hard until it's MOT.
It will be worth the wait though.
Not long now

Re: Restoration era 1097
Does anyone have experience with camber on the back wheels of the era?
I went to the dealer to check the tires and he told me that the camber on the back wheels was 0 and leaning to a positive camber.
He told me that this is not prevered on a mini.
And high speeds the mine will not be riding smoothly and maybe wiggle a bit on the backside.

Re: Restoration era 1097
according to the workshop manual, the rear end camber should be about 1 degree positive and tracking of 3mm toe-in
Re: Restoration era 1097
Thanks,
The toe-in is correct, but the camber not.
So i will install a adjustabel camber breaked.
Shall i take a fixed one or a adjustable one?

Fixed or adjustable - up to you, but once it's set to the correct angle why would you want to change it?
Personally I'd go for fixed for peace of mind knowing that it's not going to move

Re: Restoration era 1097
It is really down to preference (within the limits) How it will be driven, How often used.
Set at 0 I would have said would be ok the main point is that they are the same, and the rear wheels follow the front and are not out of track. Rover didn't build the body of these cars very accurately and as such the rear sub frame didn't always line up. I have decided to take my car to a specialist to line everything up next spring.
If you want to bend your mind a little take a look at this link.
This site has lot of technical information.

Re: Restoration era 1097
I desided to put fixed camber on the back of 1.5
After about 700 miles of fun my car had some fibrations from the front.
A close inspection showed that the front tie bar rubber was broken and the rings badly bend.
And this was only the case on the drivers side, the other one was in perfect state.
Luckely there was no damage on the paint of the subframe.
Now i need to change it,but if i put a new one it the same will happen.
Does any one have a sugestion?

it may just have been a faulty rubber.era1097 wrote:I desided to put fixed camber on the back of 1.5

I'd just put another new one in and keep an eye on it for 500 miles.
you could go for a poly type if you want something a little harder but it will mean doing both.

Have a look at this.

I have fitted this to mine. Only been on a short while so can't say if the claims are true.
I hope it is though.
Those washers have taken a hammering.

Friday,
I fitted simulare bushes as from mini spares.
And they are a lot better and stiffer.
I think they will last longer.
