Re: R1067 for sale
It is an ERA bargain for someone at that price.
Sad day when you have to sell your pride and joy - good luck with the sale Keith.

Someone got a bargain when they bought it from me, by the looks of it.

Re: R1067 for sale
It sold for £8000 in the end which I think was a bargain. I spent near on £2k on the car in 4 years and hundreds of hours working on it. There seem to be no end of ERA's for sale at huge prices but in reality how many ERA's actually sell for £10k +? I had several e-mails from concerned people saying I was selling the car too cheap as they had seen 2 of them on e-bay for £30k and another couple around the £15K mark. The sale price means nothing, I could have quite easily put mine up for £13k + based on the price of other ERA's but at that price I have no doubt I would still be in ownership of the car now. The aim was to sell the car so I priced it at what I thought it would sell for and I wasn't too far off the mark.
My point is people get carried away by the sale price when it's the sold price that really matters. I was absolutely gutted to see my ERA go, it was a really great little car but I had no choice but to sell it. One day I hope to return to ERA ownership but maybe not for a few years yet.
All the best

I agree with all of the above, the market will decide how much a car is worth. I think the last 4 british spec ones that I know have sold were all under £9000. I somehow feel that the market is undervaluing ERA's because they see them as conversions rather than the "purity" of say a Mk3 Cooper S. Ironic really when you consider the Mk3 Cooper S was manufactured for about 18 months (similar to ERA) but had a production run of just under 2000! I know of several of these that have sold in the £12,000 to £16,000 range. We know how difficult it is to re-create and ERA - the Cooper S is made from pretty much stock parts - I know which I would rather have!
Would be nice if one of the £29,000 car would sell though........

Re: R1067 for sale
Hi everyone,
I'm the lucky person who bought R1067 from Keith. After I pick up the car from Burgess Hill, I drove it to Potters Bar toleave the car with DC Minis to have any body issues (which was pointed out by Keith) sorted out as well as a mechanical check.
In the end, the car nearly had a full respray (except the bonnet and the boot) after the body kit was removed and repaired. Mechanically, I had the rear subframe changed as previously a tow bar was fitted which had caused some distortion. Other than that, mechanically the car was well looked after by Keith. Thanks. I had the internal dump valve removed as it was too noisy on the motorway. My kids were disappointed as they wanted to heta the wastegate flutter sound. I also had the two front seats leather repaired and repaint by Furniture Clinic. It was quite a logistic arrangement to try to manage from abroad.
The car is now in France near Geneva where I lived. Since bringing back home, I tidied up the wiring when initially the interior heater fan didn't work. Other than that, there is not a lot to sort out. I would not say the car is now in concours condition but certainly excellent with no body damage or rust.
In the first saturday of October every year, there is a British Classic Car Show in Morge near Geneva. I intend to take the ERA there this October and hope to meet up with some of you if you are coming over.
