It looks like my anti run-on valve appears to be faulty and was causing a vacuum leak. I've removed it for now and there doesn't seem to be an issue. It appears to be difficult to find a replacement. Are they necessary?

Re: Anti run-on valve
I've run without one for many years, stuffed a bolt up the redundant pipe from the carb.
The only issue is when you've run upto temp and then stop for at least 10-15 mins, it can take a bit longer to start, 5 seconds of cranking as opposed to 1-2. Short stops, i.e. petrol stops, aren't a prob. All down to fuel evaporation I believe. As for running on, never been an issue.

Hi, I've seen the same valve on a Rover 220. It was part of the emissions control (charcoal canister I think). I'm sure Rover would have used it on other cars too.
