yes its hard to put your own stamp and still keep it looking stock. I am afraid that the quote is off the mark , you know once you start.....it becomes addictive. I will not post the engine bay photos as its all changing for this year...wait and see, but as for the specs.

Have you managed to get rid of lag completely?
I'm a fan of keeping things pretty much standard but yours is a damned nice looking car, and it's very tastefully done. As long as you have all the bits that come off and it's possible to get back to the original, I reckon it's a good job.

Hi Rob.
I will hopefully do a little playing with my engine this year.
Mine too is an MED engine, but i went for the 1310 option.
It is the basic kit and currently has a standard head with everthing else reused straight from the metro. The only thing i did to the box was fit a central pickup.
I am looking to fit a better head with 1.5 roller tip rockers and probably an uprated actuator. Are there any clearance issues fitting 1.5 roller rockers under a standard MG style rocker cover?
I am hoping i can raise 120bhp without too much problem. I dont want to go too mad (i am not suggesting you have) as i like the stock look and hopefully keep the reliability without having to go onto gearbox mods. I also need to keep the spend to a budget.
If you can give any tips i would be most appreciative.

Not put on nitrous (I may or may not in the future) ...Its running 172 bhp...completely on its own merits... however, there is lag...just makes it more fun when an extra 100bhp comes in within 3500 - 4500 revs.
I dont think people who see my car realize how it had been messed around with before i got it...and it had done 90,000 miles so absolutely everything on it was tired...or unusable. Original parts had either broken or been replaced.... I have gone to great and I mean GREAT effort to getting it to the condition and spec you see.
another thing that turned it for me was the fact that my 2000 cooper s works was quicker....! and that really wasn't a quick car by any standards. The original ERA...number 1 , as many of you know had around 120bhp...but due to fear of warranty claims they toned it down. IMHO the 120 bhp ERA should have been the 'one'....hey ho!
